Countries in BIMP-EAGA are working together to promote the subregion as a premier single tourism destination. The subregion is home to seven UNESCO World Heritage Sites: Lorentz National Park in Papua; Mt. Kinabalu Park in Sabah; Gunung Mulu National Park and Niah Caves National Park in Sarawak; Puerto Princesa Subterranean River in Palawan; Tubbataha Reefs National Park, also in Palawan; and the Mount Hamiguitan Range Wildlife Sanctuary in Davao Oriental, Mindanao; as well as four UNESCO Global Geoparks—Maros, Meratus, and Raja Ampat in Indonesia and Kinabalu in Malaysia. It also offers a rich diversity of cultures and traditions, which include longhouse living, river-based communities, local crafts, and exotic cuisines.

BIMP-EAGA aims to harness digitalization, innovation, sustainability, and creative industries to deliver seamless and diverse travel experiences, safeguard natural and cultural heritage, and generate equitable socioeconomic benefits across the subregion.
