Connectivity Pillar
Enhancing connectivity will make it easier and faster to travel within and outside BIMP-EAGA, improve the flow of goods and services, create a conducive business climate, and raise the quality of life of local communities.
The Connectivity Pillar comprises five sectors: transport, trade facilitation, trade and investment facilitation and promotion, digital, and power and energy infrastructure.
Sector Strategies under BIMP-EAGA Vision 2035
Transport. The BIMP-EAGA Transport Cluster aims to create a reliable, safe, resilient, efficient, and sustainable multimodal transport network that strengthens connectivity, fosters inclusive socioeconomic development, and facilitates seamless travel across the BIMP-EAGA subregion.
Trade Facilitation. The Trade Facilitation Cluster aims to facilitate a seamless, safe, secure, resilient, and sustainable cross-border movement of people, goods, and services across BIMP-EAGA that is faster, cheaper, and more efficient—enabled by streamlined (harmonized) CIQS procedures, digitalization, and aligned with ASEAN and international standards.
Trade and Investment Facilitation and Promotion. The goal of the Trade and Investment Facilitation and Promotion Cluster is to establish a competitive, diversified, resilient, and sustainable trade and investment ecosystem— anchored in green and digital transformation, inclusive innovation, and empowered MSMEs— positioning BIMP-EAGA as a leading regional production network and preferred investment destination for equitable and integrated growth.
Digital. The broad Digital Cluster goal or outcome is a digitally integrated, inclusive, resilient, and sustainable BIMP-EAGA, powered by secure, green, and innovative digital solutions that seamlessly connect communities, drive trade and investment, create quality jobs, elevate public service delivery, and improve quality of life.
Power and Energy Infrastructure. The Power and Energy Infrastructure Cluster overarching goal is to create a resilient, inclusive, reliable, sustainable, and clean energy system—enabled by regional interconnectivity, public–private collaboration, low-carbon innovation, and increased renewable energy generation—that drives economic transformation and climate-aligned growth across the subregion.
